The Great Western Himalayan Ride - Itinerary

Day 01:- Arrival Delhi.
Most of flights will arrive at mid night.  Motorcycle Expeditions receptive (Guide) will meet and greet you at the airport will accompany you to your overnight accommodation in New Delhi overnight at Hotel.

Day 02:- Delhi to Manali (2050 mtrs: 570 KMS/ 14-15Hrs.)
It’s a free Day till 4 O’clock, so you can rest and relax, shop and eat or explore some of the many interesting sightseeing options by your own, for example: seeing old Delhi by bicycle rickshaw, exploring the spice market, India Gate, the houses of parliament, the legendary red fort, walk in Lodhi gardens and much, much more!

In evening, transfer to Bus stand and night in Volvo bus to Manali.

Day 03:- Manali (2050mtrs)
Morning Arrival at manali, Transfer to Hotel, breakfast and have time for relaxes. And have a short briefing on the Motorcycle Tour. After a quick rundown of road safety precautions and check of personal equipment, we will start out on the narrow adjacent road of villages into the mountains.  This is your chance to get acquainted with your bike and get to know the roads. In evening we get back to hotel to have dinner and rest and relax.

Day 04:- Manali to Dharamshala (1457mtrs: 216KMS/ 7-8 Hrs.)
After breakfast check out, and proceed to Dharamshala Enroute visit Baijnath Shiv Temple at Baijnath, Palampur Tea Estates and Chamunda Temple, arrive Dharamshala by evening, is a well-known place “ Residence of Dalai Lama”(little Tibet) with the backdrop of the majestic Dhauladhar Mountains.  Exodus of Tibetan from their homeland in 1959. The Tibetan government in exile has been based here for over three and half decades. With traditional architecture designs drawn from Tibet the impressive Namgyal monastery is surrounded by row of prayer wheels and houses large life images of the Buddha, Padmasambhava and Avalokteshwara. One can visit the Tibetan Handicraft and Medical centre, Tibetan children village and monastery of Nurbulinga and Hindu temple at Kangra.

Day 05:- Dharamshala to Khajjiar (CHAMBA) (1920mtrs: 160KMS/ 4-5Hrs.)
After breakfast ride start to khajjiar - Often called India's Mini Switzerland, the exquisite glade of Khajjiar (1960m) has a circumference of about 5 kms. Along its fringes, thick forests of deodar climb the slopes, the snow-line rests above these woods. At Khajjiar there is a 12th century temple known as Khajji Nag. Within the temple there are life size wooden images of the five Pandav brothers. And have Free time to explore surrounding places by own and back to hotel. Overnight stay in hotel.

Day 06:- Khajjiar to Killar (2100mtrs: 181 kms/ 8-9 Hrs.) over Sach pass.
Early morning breakfast and ready for ride to Killar, a remote area of Himachal Pradesh. From starting point, Condition of road is good till the base of Sach pass.  Road is winding, in some places only wide enough for one vehicle, and in many places bordered on one side by cliffs and on the other side by a drop Cross the Chenab and shady cliffy road till Pass, then easy descend to the valley. Overnight stay in Camps.

Day 07:- Killar to Kishtwar (1640 mtrs: 121kms/ 6-7hours)
Travelling through rough road is something which most of us dream to ride. Road from Killar in Pangi Valley, Himachal Pradesh leads you to Kishtwar (Jammu & Kashmir). The road is one of the dangerous roads in the world and every rider imagines to ride on that road for thrill and adventure.  Enjoy the view of rock cut road, and freeze water comes to the road from the waterfall. And visit some of the typical villages, night stay in hotel/tents.

Day 08:- Kishtwar to Srinagar (1850mtrs: 240Kms/10-11hours)
Early morning start the ride from kishtwar to Srinagar, reroute Anantnag 150kms from Kishtwar which is the route for famous pilgrimage ‘Amarnath’ yatra / trek. And from Anantnag to Kashmir is lush green valley with scenic view. After this Day tired ride, you will check in the house boat for viewing the beauty of Dal Lake, night stay in house boat.

Day 09:- Srinagar (1850mtrs)
After great ride in rough road from last three Days, for getting some comfort and chilling in Dal Lake, ToDay we will be at leisure for individual activities, dinner and overnight stay at house boat.

Day 10:- Srinagar - Kargil, (2676mtrs:202 Kms/ 8 to9hours) over Zozila-la Pass-3033 meters.
We advise for an early start toDay to Kargil, The road to Kargil is from the beauteous Vale of Kashmir, and passing through the rich rolling downs with their meadows of wild flowers, it ascends and enter the Zojila pass with walls of snow and ice , stark and dramatic, a sea of bare mountains that change colour in the changing light – beige, earth red, slate blue, dull mauve and a deep dark purple. We pass through Drass, the second coldest inhabited place on earth and you can have spectacular view of Kargil War famous Peaks Tiger Hill and Tololing Peak.

Arrive Kargil in the evening check inn at hotel for overnight stay

Day 11:- Kargil to Leh (3500 mtrs: 220kms/8-9 Hrs.)
Morning after Breakfast leave for Ule, Enroute visit Mulbek a giant Buddha Sculpture on Rock Mountain, Lamayuru, the oldest Monastery of Ladakh and have a magnificent view of spectacular Moon landscape. Magnetic Hill, Pathar Sahib Gurudwara. Dinner at Hotel in Leh. Evening free time at Leisure. O/N Leh

Day 12:- Leh to Khardungla to Leh (5602 mtrs: 78kms/ 5 hours)
ToDay we ride to Khardung pass. This is the world’s highest motor-able road – the Khardung pass at a thrilling 5602 meters 39 km from Leh!! After noon Free, visit to market, or by foot visit Shanti Stupa a good view of Leh town & relax.

Day 13:- Leh to Tso Kar (4485mtrs: 140 Kms, 7 - 8 hours)
Having a good time in Leh, it’s time to run your bike to familiar road i.e. towards Sarchu. On the way there is a place named Tso-Kar village near to Tso-Kar Lake. After a beautiful ride and memory we bring from Highest Motorable Road and from Leh town are unforgettable. Evening reach to Tso-Kar and enjoy the scenic beauty of the lake. Night stay in Hotel/Camp

Day 14:- Tsokar to Jispa (3320mtrs: 221 kms/ 8-9 Hrs.) Lachulang la pass 5,060 mtrs (16,602 feet) Baralacha pass 4890 meters.
ToDay we climb up to the Lachlung pass at 5,060 meters. Lachlung, Once over the pass you’ll enjoy the winding ‘switchbacks’ known as the Gata Loops all the way down to Sarchu. We stop in Bharatpur to have a chai before we tackle the Baralacha pass.

Overnight stay and dinner at hotel.

Day 15:- Jispa to Kaza (3600 mtrs: 209kms/8-9 Hrs.)
Early morning breakfast, we will ride along with the river and cross Keylong the tribal distt headquarter of Lahul valley. Road leads through several villages of the Lahaul valley, and have to stop our bike in kokhsar, to do some paper work on police check post. We entered in spiti valley while crossing the Gramphu. Ride along with Chandra river, we entered in to the untouched   valley and uphill drive till Kunzum pass (4700 m.) offer extensive view of the snow caped mountains. The terrain condition from Gramphu to Losar village over Kunzum la is an off-road boon for motorcyclists’ continuous ride to Kaza, is the sub divisional headquarter of Spiti. Overnight in Kaza at hotel.

Day 16:- Kaza to Tabo (3050mtrs: 84kms/ 2-3 Hrs.) visit Kungri monastery.
After breakfast we will move towards Tabo, Enroute we will ride to Pin Valley, the land of Ibex and Snow Leopards. Visit Kungri monastery at Pin Valley. Continue drive to Tabo. Visit Tabo monastery. Founded in 996 AD by the great teacher Richensang-po, Tabo is renowned for its breath-taking murals and stucco images – and is often called “The Ajanta of the Himalayas”. The largest monastic complex in Spiti, the old section has 9 temples, 23 chortens, a monk’s chamber and a nun’s chamber. There are several caves adorned with frescoes and contemporary structures too. In Trans Himalayan Buddhism, Tabo’s sanctity is next only to Tibet’s Tholing Gompa. Overnight at guest house.

Day 17:- Tabo to Kalpa (2758 mtrs: 163kms/ 5-6 Hrs.)
The road follows the narrowing spiti valley, before soaring over the ridge into the valley of Satluj River. Thus we have to take early morning breakfast and ride start with authentic beauty of Spiti valley, visit to Nako, downhill and cliffy road and Gorgeous route leads via Khab where Sutlej river entre in India and merge in to Spiti river.  125 kms to Kalpa where the Sutlej and Spiti rivers confluence will leave you spellbound. The perfect place for considering the majesty of the Himalayas and slow appreciation of the beautiful scenery will occupy our Day and refresh our minds from the mundane stress Day to Day existence at our crowded cities. ToDay we are entering in Kinnaur valley and our inner line permit and passport will be checked at check post at Jhangi. Continues ride to Kalpa, from Kalpa we get the view of Kinnaur Kailash Mountain. It is considered to be sacred by the locals of the region. A Shiva Lingam measuring 70 m in height sits on top of the peak which attracts a large number of devotees and tourists all year round. Overnight at hotel.

Day 18: - Kalpa to Banzar (1525mtrs: 239 kms /9-10 Hrs.(visit Sarahan )
We will drive 239 kms from Kalpa to Banzar, moving through the beautiful Kinnauri landscape and different culture of Kinnaur valley. Enroute, Visit to Sarahan, it is a famous place for the most ancient and unchanged villages in Himachal. There are some Hindus temples, for example: Raja Bushahr Palace Bhimakali Temple, and Usha Temple.  Road to Banzar is famous for the race known as “Raid de Himalaya”. After crossing Jalori pass (at 3500 Mtrs) enter in Saraj Valley. ToDay will be thrilling ride on the rough and narrow road of Himalayas with no signboard and little civilization en route. Halt / break at Jalori Pass for tea and snacks at a local tea shop. Later ride down to Banzar Valley.  Arrive and check in to the guest house.

Day 19: - Banzar to Manali, (2050mtrs: 91 kms/ 3-4 Hrs.)
Morning after breakfast and enjoy the view of Banzar valley takes us north towards manali. After traveling 15 KM you will cross the river again and reach dam area. At the end of this Larji Hydroelectric dam you will join the Shimla – Manali road and enter into tunnel. We continue drive through the right bank of Beas River. In Bajaura, there is an ancient temple of Shiva, where we will take halt. Then move towards kullu. After reaching Bhuntar turn to right for Manikaran chock, after few minutes crossing the bridge, turn to left for another valley bridge near the Jia village and drive towards kullu, from that place manali is 52kms. Through many small town and villages, you will reach manali in evening, check in hotel at manali. Overnight stay in hotel.

Day 20: - Manali (Day on leisure)
After this beautiful & adventurous ride, body wishes for some rest. Day is on leisure, can be thinkable to visit famous temples surrounding manali by tuk- tuk or by feet. And enjoy more time in the hot spring and perhaps book a massage. And come back to hotel and have dinner. Overnight stay in hotel.

Day 21: - Manali to Delhi (570kms/ 14-15 Hrs.)
After breakfast, have enough time to do packing. We’ll enjoy a farewell lunch together around 1:30pm. At 4:30pm you will be transferred to the bus station. This is a Deluxe Volvo Bus service from Manali to Delhi. The bus supplies bottled water and blankets and stops for dinner at around 10pm. Night stay in the bus.

Day 22: - Delhi to your onward destination.
On arrival New Delhi we’ll transfer you to the hotel where you can get shower and time for relax or free to visit market for getting something for your loved one.
At the appropriate time we will transfer you to the international airport to catch your flight to your onward destination.
