Building the dream
In 2010, at a steal, I bought a frame without registration. Well this meant that I wouldn’t be able to ride the bike legally on the road here in Europe…
The primary idea was to take an original tank and rear frame and build on that.
We are talking about dreams, pictures inside my head, pictures that kept me up at night and inspirations gathered from Streetfighters, custom bikes and Cafe Racers. There were a few elements I always wanted to play with like a peanut tank with a sexy, slim ass reduced to the max π and some brass parts, elegant but still some Mad Max inside.
A friend started playing around with the frame. He bought a Ducati swingarm, one of the sexiest standard bike swingarms in my opinion. The fork from one of my race bikes, was lying around and the rolling chassis had been gathering dust for almost 4 years.
A decision was made. I wanted to build my dream, no compromises! I would have to build the tank and cut the rear frame off, to match up to my mental picture.
I brought the frame to my garage and the first task would be to cut off the rear frame. Nobody has ever done that to such a frame. Why would you perform such an act to a frame like that?! Just because… Fuck it!
It was quite a long process to find the right proportions for the tank and the tail section. In the end I built 4 rear frames, of which the last one was the frame of my dreams.
For the tank logo, I built a 3D model from a jpg printed on my 3D printer. I’ve never cast aluminium but according me, itβs the only way to get 3D with detail out of metal. I built a furnace and melted the aluminium and it worked out great.
Drinking beers does not always end up well… “OK, hold my beer” is what started the supercharger idea π Ebay happened to have a new Rotrex C15 and the idea was set into action!
Technically it was very demanding for me to get this whole bunch of technology running together. The idea is to do it yourself, BUILT NOT BOUGHT!
