Rajasthan welcomes you to the vibrant opulence of Maharajas (Indian Princes) and Mogul (Arab) Emperors! The Thar Desert where Mogul battles once took place is home to fierce and fearless sword warriors known as the Rajputs. Immerse yourself in the rich blend of Rajput creativity with Mogul influence that gave rise to Rajasthani culture and architecture, jewel of the Indian architectural heritage. Rajasthan is by far, the most colourful state of India and therefore an astonishing visual delight. Every city has its own character and indeed, many can be remarkably distinguished by their colour. While Jaipur the capital and pearl of Rajasthan was built of the rarest pink sandstone, Jodhpur is a true mosaic of all shades of blue, painted as such to distinguish the homes of Brahmins who make up the largest part of its population. As if to blend in with the Thar Desert, Jaisalmer draped itself in similar nuances of yellow. The most elegant and lush of them all is Udaipur (actual oasis) with its majestic palaces, houses painted in white and multiple lakes.
Here women dressed in saris of all colours, appear as precious flowers and gems, covered with semi-transparent veils in an infinite variety of tones matching almost miraculously, those of the Havelis (homes of rich merchants), sumptuously painted as if to amaze the passers-by. Vivid, high-spirited Gypsies roam the desert with their authentic music and dance and their infamous camels. Here, the oldest and once highest mountains in the world have now passed on their glory to the Himalayas. The Aravalis now no higher than common hills, bow with modesty.
On this motorcycle tour through Rajasthan, we explore the colours and contrasts of the spice route and silk route, gigantic forts, castles and intricately carved temples and vast selection of semi-precious stones. Ride into the romance of One Thousand and One Nights on none other than the world-renowned Royal Enfield Bullet.
